Ramadan Mubarak - The Mizaan

Salam loves,

Ramadan Mubarak! I pray this one is your best one yet — Alhamdulillah for being able to experience another one and purify our hearts from our past mistakes, may Allah forgive us and accept our fasts.

Today I wanted to share with you a few simple tips to spend a mindful Ramadan, physically, mentally and spiritually speaking. I am determined to apply all of them so I hope you’ll join me insha’Allah!

Let’s get into it shall we?

1. Build a routine that works for you

I’ve addressed this in the previous newsletter but don’t compare yourself to people online. Most of them are sharing routines that are not suitable for everyone! Take it slow, lay out the things you want to achieve this month and how you can make it work with your schedule, whether you have a corporate job or a busy mom! My advice would be to make the most of your time between waking up for suhoor and after praying fajr. Ramadan Mornings are really calm and peaceful, so it’s the perfect time to read Quran, do some dhikr, stretch a little bit, make yourself a nice breakfast… You can also make the most of “empty hours” like commuting to work or cleaning the house to listen to Ramadan series (So excited to start Yaqeen Institute’s new one as well as Jannah Institute’s one) or to a podcast. Of course I have to suggest mine, In Balance haha + two I really enjoy: The Digital Sisterhood and Mindful Muslimah Speaks.

2. Have sincere intentions for everything you do

I recently organised a meet up here in Paris with over 30 sisters during which we not only got to bond over our deep love for Islam Alhamdulillah but also got to discuss the importance of intentions in our everyday lives. Ramadan is the perfect time to be intentional and make even the smallest actions an act of ‘ibadah. Whether it be reflecting upon the true meaning of fasting and deeply connecting with it, giving as much as you can in Sadaqah throughout the month (I’m actually raising funds for Yemen with MATW if you’d like to donate) or being grateful for the reward you’ll get for cooking iftar for your family despite being tired, there are so many ways to show Allah your appreciation for Ramadan.
